Meet Tammy Bailey

"When Rick and I first arrived at Hillcrest, I was pregnant with our first of three children, a daughter named Mandy.  Chloe and David followed shortly thereafter. Once Hillcrest became our home, the wife of the children’s pastor encouraged me to get more involved and get to know the staff on a more personal level. However, I wasn’t interested in doing that at all–I had come from an experience at a church that when I got to know the staff and saw how things were handled behind the scenes, and I didn’t like what I saw.  I liked how perfect things looked from a distance and wanted to maintain that boundary.  It makes me smile now, thinking of the woman I was then and the plans that God had in store for me.

Over the years, I have seen lots and lots of change at Hillcrest. When a dear friend of ours became senior pastor he asked if I would work for him as an administrative assistant, and I agreed to it. We had a lot of fun in the church office in those days! One day I was talking with the children’s pastor and commented that he had the coolest job in the world. He encouraged me to go to Global University’s school of ministry and see what happened. So I did! I accepted an internship with that same pastor and I studied, learned, and grew. It wasn’t easy, but I wasn’t that baby anymore that didn’t want to grow up or know what was happening in the church. God grew me up.

Brian and Andrea arrived at Hillcrest 6 years ago and they have been a breath of fresh air. Hillcrest had weathered some challenging seasons before they arrived and we needed new vision and new direction. Our pastor had become very sick and needed to step down, we lost church members who left to start their own church and our congregation was scattered and bruised. Now, I love what a happy place Hillcrest is, and the energy here is tangible. The people of this church truly love one another and the Lord has used this place to heal so many. At Hillcrest you’ll find grace and not judgement. You’ll find restoration, kindness and generosity. We live the values of Hillcrest both in and out of the building, and I’m so happy to be a part of this place and to help further the vision God has given us."
